Cabinet of Ministers doesn’t want to support Russian language?


The draft budget for the next year foresees financing of the raw of programs, directed at Ukrainian language development. Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Tabachnyk has told journalists at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday, ForUm’s correspondent reports.

“More than UAH 25 million are foreseen for the support of Ukrainian book. This is educational literature,” he said.

According to Tabachnyk, the support of State books publications is increased 30 % in comparison with 2007.

Vice Prime Minister has noted, that the Government plans to enlarge funds of public libraries.

He has emphasized that the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs have a row of programs, directed at the support Ukrainian language, as the State language. “There are no similar programs in relation to other languages. There are only program on support of publications of ethnic minority,” Tabachnyk said.
