Ukraine and UNICEF sign cooperation agreement for 2007


Annual Cooperation Plan for 2007 was signed by Ukrainian Minister for Family, Youth and Sports Viktor Korzh and UNICEF Representative Jeremy Hartley, “Cabinet press office” reported.

The United Nations Children's Fund assists implementation of programs and projects in priority sphere of childhood protection in Ukraine.

At the signing ceremony Viktor Korzh said that the main purpose is to create conditions for realization of the right of each child to be grown in a family or family surroundings.

In 2006 UNICEF realized programs, which supported Ukraine's aspirations to reach the Millenium Development goals, which in particular are: overcoming poverty, improvement of mothers' health and reduction of the level of children's mortality, fighting HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis.

According to Jeremy Hartley, the Annual Plan continues developing health, nutrition, education and protection of children programs, which will help Ukraine in development of state environments, favorable for children.
