According to the
Interior Affairs Ministry's State Department for Citizenship, Immigration, and
Registration, 7-8 foreign investors are granted permanent residence in Ukraine
every year, “Cabinet press office” reported.
Under the department's
new rules, a foreigner can obtain Ukrainian citizenship by investing USD
100,000 in the Ukrainian economy.
According to the
department, Vietnamese, Egyptians, and Indians pay about USD 1 million per year
for the right to live in Ukraine.
The numbers of people
that were granted the right to live in Ukraine after investing USD 100,000 or
more were eight in 2006, eight in 2005, seven in 2004, and two in 2003.
Most of these people are
from Vietnam (50%), Egypt, Israel, India, and Iraq.
The processing of the relevant
documents for this category of immigrants takes about one week.
