Merkel comments on Euro integration progress in Ukraine

The Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel does not see yet perspectives of Ukraine’s accession into the European Union. She told at common press conference with the PM of Ukraine Vikotr Yanukovych after their meeting in Berlin.

“Concerning membership perspective, Yanukovych informed about Ukraine’s positions on this point. Ukraine has special place in relations with the EU. The next step is a creation of free trade zone. It will be considered as a progress,’ Merkel said.

In turn Yanukovych said that in the scope of the negotiations Ukraine got positive signals concerning perspectives of membership in the EU. “We have got a sign that the EU is opened for Ukraine. This will be stated in new agreement for next ten years,” Yanukovych said.
