The prime Ministers of Ukraine and Uzbekistan Viktor Yanukovych and Shavkat Mirziyayev discussed prospects of cooperation between the countries at the session beginning of seventh intergovernmental committee of Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
According to Yanukovych, last session of intergovernmental committee took place in June 2004 in Tashkent. Since that time many question on cooperation have arisen.
Yanukovych noted that today committee and subcommittees of two countries will determine propositions for increase of trade dynamic between the countries to submit these propositions during the visit of governmental delegation of Ukraine headed by the PM of Uzbekistan that is scheduled for first quarter of 2007.
“Now committee should realize revision and prepare propositions for making significant decisions on the Presidents level,” Yanukovych said.
In particular, Ukraine offers to consider questions on cooperation in fuel-energy and transport spheres.
There are burning questions in engineering industry, military-technical, scientific-technical cooperation and cultural-humanitarian sphere,” he noted.
The PM of Uzbekistan noted that “despite the growth dynamic, current cooperation level leaves much to be desired.”
According to him, turnover between two countries in 2006 doubled. At the same time “it could be better.”
Mirziyayev noted that Uzbekistan is interested in mutual projects in agricultural sphere, chemical industry, mining, oil gas sphere, motor-car construction, cattle breeding and tourism.
