Lavrov replied to the Ohryzko’s “Valentine’s card”


The Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov hopes Ukraine and Russia will overcome difficulties in bilateral relations within the constructive dialogue. According to the Foreign Ministry of Russia, the congratulation letter from Sergey Lavrov forwarded to the acting Foreign Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Ohryzko on 15th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Ukraine said.

Lavrov noted that there is a solid legal base, the key element of which is agreement on friendship, cooperation and partnership of May 31, 1997, between Russia and Ukraine.

The congratulation letter also informed that there were many bright examples of mutually beneficial solving of burning problems. “Signing of base agreement on the Black Sea Fleet is of special importance,” the letter said.

Lavrov also considers that effectiveness of agreement on state boundary and agreement on cooperation concerning Azov and Kerch seas have great importance for development of the Russian-Ukrainian relations.

According to Lavrov, development of the Russian-Ukrainian partnership should be considered through the main task – closer cooperation of our brotherly peoples. It means cooperation in humanitarian, culture and education spheres.
