Russia lost interest to Common Economic Area with Ukraine

Russia has lost interest to creation of Common Economic Area with Ukraine, Belarus Kazakhstan. First vice PM, Finance Minister Mykola Azarov told in the air of channel 5.

“Initiative, time and dynamics of negotiation process have been lost in talks with Russia. The power, which came after us in 2005, made everything to stop amnd delay this process,” Azarov is convinced.

He reminded that “events in 2005-2006 showed that Ukraine came out of the negotiation process, refused from common market principles, and Russia lost interest to creation of common market. Moreover, Russia saw advantage in shifting to market economy as regards gas prices.”

According to the vice PM, “there is no return to CEA agreements, unfortunately.” He noted that 60% of Ukrainians consider it advantageous for Ukraine to join CEA. “Unfortunately, I must disappoint them, and at the same ‘I want’ to gladden CEA enemies,” Azarov said.
