Yanukovych promised not to infringe on Yushchenko’s authority

Either the Cabinet or the Prime Minister of Ukraine never have possibility to replace the President of the State or to infringe on his authorities, the head of the Ukrainian Government Viktor Yanukovych said.

“As a head of the Government I want to declare with all responsibility that executive power is ready to do everything that the Presidency institute has worthy and respectable place in the society, ha said, addressing the audience at the online conference “Where does Ukraine follow?” in Davos.

According to Yanukovych, Ukraine is at the transition stage from presidential to parliamentary-presidential republic and current legal uncertainty “unfortunately leads to misunderstandings”.

However the PM is convinced that it is a temporal event and in the near future with the help of all branches in accordance with the Constitution we will manage to dot one's "i's" and cross one's "t's". That’s why I pay great attention to adoption of the law on the Cabinet which eventually gives answers on key questions – who is the real supreme body of executive power in the country and who is responsible for economy before the people,” he said, Inter-fax-Ukraine informs.

Yanukovych noted that the law supported by the opposition, imposes responsibility on coalition forces who win parliamentary elections and form the Government and determine its head. “Adoption of this law does not divide branches of power for winners and losers,” he assured.
