Ukraine can unite efforts of Russia and Europe as
regards increase of supplies of energy carriers to European markets and is
ready to offer a number of projects on modernization of Ukrainian oil and gas
transport systems. Prime Minister Victor Yanukovych said at the plenary session
of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
“We consider that Ukraine’s role between suppliers and
consumers of energy carriers is very important, and we can unite efforts of
Russia and Europe as regards increase of energy carriers supplies to Europe. We
consider Ukraine as reliable participants of this process. We must unite efforts
of exporters, transitors and consumers of energy carriers,” Yanukovych said.
According to the Premier, Ukraine offers to bridge reliable
relationships with its partners to make these relations to “secure necessary
level of energy security, which will guarantee effective functioning of the
states’ economies.”
“We are ready to offer a number of projects on
modernization of oil and gas transport systems, owned by Ukraine,” Yanukovych
noted.
In response to the question whether Ukraine feels dependent
on Russia as regards energy carriers’ supplies, Ukraine’s PM noted that Kyiv thinks
of it from the point of partner relations with Russia. Yanukovych pointed out
that Russia is a supplier of energy carriers, but it is Ukraine, which
transports them to Europe.
Yanukovych also stressed that Ukraine press towards increase
of energy supply production on its territory, as well as on a territory of
other countries.
