Czech Republic to help Ukraine enter the EU

Foreign Ministers of Ukraine and Czech Republic Borys Tarasyuk and Karel Schwarzenberg signed Joint declaration on cooperation in realization of Ukraine-EU Action Plan.

Press office of Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry reported that the mentioned declaration was signed as a result of negotiations between official delegations of foreign departments of Ukraine and Czech Republic.

The parties discussed bilateral cooperation, regional collaboration, including Visegrad Four and energy security. Ukraine and Czech Republic expressed mutual interest in further bilateral dialogue and discussed schedule of two-way visits at the high level this year.

Speaking about dynamics of Ukrainian-Czech relations, Tarasyuk noted that Ukrainian-Czech trade and economic cooperation will be intensified after holding the first session of the Ukrainian-Czech commission on economic, industrial and scientific-technical cooperation in March in Kyiv.

The Ukrainian party thanked Czech Republic for constant support of Ukraine’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration. Ukraine also hopes for the same support as regards new Ukraine-EU agreement and ratification of Ukraine-EU agreements concerning readmission and visa regime.

Moreover, the parties discussed migration policy and rights of Ukrainian citizens in Czech Republic. In particular, they agreed to hold a conference on migration policy with participation of corresponding ministries and departments from both countries in Prague in February.

After negotiations between official delegations of Foreign Ministries of Ukraine and Czech Republic Tarasyuk and Schwarzenberg also signed Consultation Plan between Foreign Ministry of Ukraine and Foreign Ministry if Czech Republic for 2007-2008 years.
