Ukraine’s President approved moratorium on sale of farmland

President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko has signed the law to extend the moratorium on sale of farmland, press office of the President reported.

The President has signed the law of December 19 “On changes to Land Code of Ukraine concerning imposing moratorium on sale of farmland till necessary laws are adopted”.

The law comes into force from the day of its signing.

At the same time Yushchenko addressed the Verkhovna Rada with a letter, in which he called the deputies “to speed up efforts on adoption laws on state land cadastre and land market in order to lift moratorium on free circulation of land from January 1, 2008.”
