Ukraine's Justice Ministry submits a draft to the public consideration

Justice Minister of Ukraine submits a draft Act of Ukraine on Status of Ethnic Ukrainians Expelled for Poland in 1944-1946, 1948 and 1951 to the public consideration. The Ministry has taken such step in accordance with the President’s Decree of September 23, 2005 regulating the Actions related to the 60^th Anniversary of the Compulsory Expulsion of Ukrainians from Poland’s Territory.

The draft proposes to provide a corresponding status to ethnic Ukrainians compulsory expelled from the territory of Poland in order to restore the historical justice. In accordance with the part three of the new draft, such persons will get status of deported people and their expulsion will be admitted as an illegal act.

The draft provides for corresponding advantages in accordance with the Act of Ukraine on War Veterans and Guarantees of their Social Protection.”
