Ukriane has started serial manufacture of bird flu vaccine

Ukraine's chief veterinary physician Ivan Bisiuk declared Tuesday Ukraine has started serial manufacture of a vaccine for lethal strains of bird flu.

The vaccine will be made at factories in Kherson and Sumy, Bisiuk said, Cabinet’s press office reported.

According to him, three vaccines have been developed, specifically to deal with bird flu strains, typical of Ukraine, such as the Sivash strain, which raises morbidity to as high as about 80 percent.

Ukrainian farmers and homesteads of the rural population keep about 183 M. head of poultry.
