In a Saturday radio address, Victor Yushchenko said Ukraine’s domestic and foreign policies would not change, President's press office reported.
He promised that the country would not change the
road it had chosen two years ago: “We will not change the chosen
course. Our politicians are now learning to do what they could never
do. They are learning to compromise honestly, openly and responsibly.”
“My position is firm: there will be no revival of Kuchmism [Kuchma’s regime] and Ukraine will proceed to the European Union.”
The President also said recent events in parliament
showed that “Ukrainian democracy is really vulnerable. It is
susceptible to political games and intrigues.”
“For three months, we have been formulating
fundamentals of a new democratic political culture. Now, they should
become a rule for Ukrainian politicians,” he said.
