Russian classics may be translated in Ukrainian

Kyiv hosts the first charitable fair of children's books.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Literature Institute Director Mykola Zhulinsky stated that the government intends to take control of the book import to Ukraine.

Such measure will be aimed at creation of favourable conditions for development of domestic publishers and no way at the limitation of the import production.

Regarding the translations of Pushkin, Lermontov, Yesenin and other world classics into Ukrainian, Zhulinsky opines it is a sound process. All European countries translate the foreign classic masterpieces and Ukraine should not be exclusion.
