President of Ukraine opened a court and an academy in Donetsk

Visiting Donetsk, Victor Yushchenko opened a building for court hearings of the Donetsk Court of Appeal and the Regional Academy of Ukrainian Judges. Accompanied by Iryna Voytyuk, RAUJ Rector, and Petro Pylypchuk, Deputy Head of the Supreme Court of Ukraine, he cut the symbolic ribbon at the entrance.

The Head of State said “today’s ceremony is a good example to the other regions.” He added that thousands of judges needed "elementary working conditions."

“Today, the people deciding the fate of millions of their compatriots have received a tool to do justice,” he said, adding that he hoped such buildings would open throughout Ukraine.

By taking part in the ceremony the Chief of State demonstrated his commitment to judicial reforms. He is convinced that our judges must promote the rule of law and so "the Academy should teach them to be moral."
