US transport Advantage has been blocked in Feodosiya

On May 27, Feodosiya port hosted US transport “Advantage.” The ship carried engineering equipment and building materials for reconstruction of Starokrymsky training ground of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The local residents and CPU, SDPU (o), Vitrenko’s Bloc activists have launched protest action and blocked the cargo in the port.

Ukraine’s Defence Ministry explained that “Advantage” was an advanced detachment making necessary arrangements for “Sea Breeze-2006” military exercise. The event has been scheduled last year and the local authorities might have known about it. Forty countries have been invited to take part ion the exercises. The US delegation has not yet given permission of the parliament but it is a question of time, Defence Ministry assures. It is going to be given in the nearest time.

The activists of the parties mentioned above along with ombudsman Nina Karpachyova declared illegal the presence of the foreign armed forces in Ukraine.

Ukraine’s Defence Minister Hrytsenko and Foreign Ministry of Ukraine state the protest to be pure “political intrigue.”
