The Foreign Ministry: The referendum on Ukraine’s accession to NATO may be held

All-Ukrainian referendum on Ukraine’s membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization may be held only after the in-depth ad campaign on what NATO really is, the First Deputy Foreign Minister Anton Buteiko told Friday in the briefing.

Having analysed the legal basis of Ukraine, the diplomatic exerts came to a conclusion that there is not any strict demand to conduct a referendum on such points.

“However, the President declared that this referendum may be held but only after the full objective information about NATO, the advantages and challenges given by NATO membership,” concluded Buteiko.
