President Yushchenko signs bird flu decree

Victor Yushchenko signed a decree to establish a coordinating council to fight pathogenic bird flu and prevent a potential bird flu pandemic. It is going to be created to more efficiently carry out anti-flu policy in Ukraine. The Council will be led by Emergency Minister Victor Baloha, the President press service told.

The President delegated the government to involve the National Academy of Sciences and Academy of Medical Sciences in creating an institute of influenza and respiratory infections within one month and also fully fund anti-flu measures in Ukraine.
