The First Lady of Ukraine met UNESCO Ambassador


Kateryna Yushchenko met with Ute-Henriette Ohoven, UNESCO Special Ambassador for the Children in Need.

Ms. Ohoven told her during a charitable event in Germany the people had donated a record 633 198 euros in aid for Ukrainian children. She said: “This is a sign of Germans’ benevolent and kind-hearted attitude toward Ukraine and Ukrainian children.”

The raised funds will be used to help children’s wards of the Cancer Institute and the Kyiv Burn Center, and the Otchiy Dim Orphanage. The Ukraine 3000 Expert Council and UNESCO representatives will decide how to fairly distribute the money. They also agreed thatthe Ukraine 3000 Foundation would manage the accounts.

Following the meeting, Ms. Ohoven and German reporters visited the three places chosen to receive the money.
