Ukraine unprepared to hold parliamentary elections

(RIA Novosty) The head of Ukraine's Central Election Commission said Thursday that the country is not ready for the parliamentary elections set for March 26.

Yaroslav Davydovych said many local election commissions had yet to be formed and that some parties were illegally using their right to form election commissions by replacing officials in local commissions.

He also said that 70 election commission chairmen positions remained vacant.

To date, 225 election commissions, which should include more than 4,000 members, have been formed in Ukraine.
