Political life of Ukraine: a deputy was given a bloody nose

At the beginning of today’s plenary session in the Verkhovna Rada MPs of Communistic faction tried to block the President’s chair, in the result of which deputies from “Our Ukraine” faction clashed with Communists.

Besides, representatives of Communistic faction attempted to hang a placard with the inscription “Where are your steps towards the people” behind the parliamentary tribune. The attempt failed, but leader of “Our Ukraine” faction Oleksandr Martynenko was given a bloody nose.

Finally VR Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn appeared in the hall, introduced order and opened the session.

Today President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko is scheduled to address Ukrainian parliamentarians in accordance with Article 106 of the Ukrainian Constitution.His addresswas prepared by Ukraine’s leading scholars, experts and NGOs.
