Cabinet to set limits on gas consumption


Economic Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk reported that the government charged Ministry for Fuel and Energy of Ukraine and a number of profile ministries to prepare changes to Law of Ukraine “On oil and gas”, in which to provide for possibility to set limits on consumption of natural gas for all categories of consumers.

The Minister added that Ministry for Fuel and Energy is also charged with preparation of changes to legislation, which will provide for penalties for over-limit consumption of gas.

Yatsenyuk noted that except for limits it will be introduced obligatory fulfillment of programs on energy saving. “If programs on energy saving are carried out and limits are not exceeded, you will get gas at $110. If you overstep the limits, pay double fine,” said the Minister.
