Rent for RF Black Sea Fleet stay in Crimea is too “paltry”

Vitaly Radetsky, head of National Defense Academy of Ukraine, considers that the rent for stay of the Russian Black Sea Fleet on the territory of Ukraine does not meet international standards.

During a press conference on Monday he reported that in 1994, being in office of Defense Minister of Ukraine, he had asked US Secretary of Defense William Perry to present accounts of stay of an American base “in a similar aspect as stay of Russian BSF” in Crimea.

According to Radetsky, the accounts were presented, and they showed that the sum, stated in the agreement between Russia and Ukraine, “doesn’t meet any canons, as the rent for the stay is paltry.”

He declared that the rent should be “several tens times more than the existing one.”
