Yushchenko: Ukraine is willing to launch joint energy projects with Romania


Following his meeting with Romanian President Traian Basescu, Victor Yushchenko said Ukraine intends to launch joint energy projects with Romania, presidential press ofice reported.

The Head of State reminded that Ukraine had recently agreed with Romania to jointly explore and produce natural resources in the Black Sea.

“I think the joint presidential commission will consider this issue,” he said.

Yushchenko added that during his talks with the Romanian colleague he opined that they should produce nuclear energy, not relying solely on renewable resources.The President remarked that Ukraine has much uranium ore.

In his turn, Mr. Basescu said Romania would agree to take part in joint projects to produce oil in the Black Sea shelf.
