FATF ceases monitoring Ukraine

Financial Action Task Force (FATF), an inter-governmental body whose purpose is the development and promotion ofnational and international policies to combat money laundering and terrorist financing, has agreed with recommendations of a control group and decided to cease monitoring Ukraine, as declared PM of Ukraine Yuri Yekhanurov during his meeting with students of Kyiv-Mohilyanska Academy.

According to him, Ukrainian government has received the corresponding letter from the FATF today, February 2.

Yekhanurov noted that the FATF welcomes actions of Ukrainian government concerning combating money laundering. According to PM, the decision to cease monitoring Ukraine is “serious estimation of the President’s work”, and, in general, democratization processes in Ukraine.
