Minister of Agrarian Policy Oleksandr Baranivsky cancelled his visit to Russia, scheduled for January 29-30 to solve the problem of supply of Ukrainian cattle breeding production to the Russian Federation.
At the same time, Ukrainian delegation at the head of Chairman of State Veterinary Department Ivan Bisyuk departed for Moscow Sunday for negotiations.
Commenting on the Minister’s decision, Bisyuk noted that Baranivsky had not received a confirmation from Ukrainian Embassy in Russia about readiness of Russian side to receive Baranivsky as a member of government.
According to Agrarian Ministry press office, officials of Embassy of Ukraine in Moscow were appealing to the Russian government and RF Ministry of Agriculture with a proposal to agree negotiations plan for several days.
“But they were answered that members of the Russian government, responsible for the agrarian complex, can not receive the Agrarian Minister of Ukraine as they are either on leave or in poor health,” the press office’s statement says.
The Chairman of State Veterinary Department of Ukraine also informed that the Ukrainian delegation intends to conduct negotiations concerning lift of ban with the Russian side on Monday-Tuesday.
According to him, Russia must respond to the Ukrainian proposals of the first round by submitting its own ideas concerning the settlement of the problem. Bisyuk in turns stressed that there were not any proposals submitted by Ukraine during the first round of the negotiations.
The Ukrainian delegation intends to hold negotiations with Rosselkhoznadzor and the State Veterinary Service of Russia, Bisyuk told. He also stressed that Ukraine has assumed all necessary measures regarding the settlement in accordance with Russian demands.
“We have assumed all necessary effective measures concerning the Russian request,” said Bisyuk, the Chief Veterinarian of Ukraine. He added that Ukraine as well as Russia complains against the food import to Ukraine. “There are lots of violations made by Russian exporters,” noted Bisyuk.
In response to the question concerning the same steps taken by Ukraine – for example, to ban Russian import, he did not give definite answer.
The Chief Veterinary Bisyuk stated there were 15 violations of Ukrainian standards fixed by Ukraine. According to the revisions, the violations were founded in the quality of the chicken force-meat, sausage meat and meat production.
Ukraine expects next week Russia to lift the ban.
