President comments on compromised gas price

“The Ukrainian economy is prepared for new market conditions,” Victor Yushchenko said, presidential press office reported.

He reiterated that Ukraine was first to give up barter schemes by liberalizing gas prices according to transparent and clear mechanisms.

“Ukraine is observing all international transit agreements,” he stressed. “Ukraine is a reliable and stable partner of the European Union and Russia.”

The President also said he was convinced both Ukraine and Russia would benefit if they demonstrated political culture during negotiations.
