Ukrainian political parties will not spend money on elections campaign

The political parties – the winners of the elections-2006 – will get indemnity of the election expenses from the state budget, the Chairman of Ukrainian Electoral Commission Yaroslav Davydovich reported.

“The Act on Political Parties reads about the budget indemnity to the winners of the parliamentary elections-2006. They will get the compensation of election campaign,” said CEU head.

He stressed that the expenses are included in the budget.

In response to the question about possible violations concerning it, Davydovich stated that “everything is under control.”

He pointed out the positive example of Russia where the political parties are partially compensated their expenses by the state budget.

“It will be the first time – let’s see what happen,” mentioned Davydovich.

The parliamentary elections will be held on March 26, 2006.
