Victor Yushchenko: All current processes in Ukraine will yield positive results

President Victor Yushchenko believes that all current processes in the country will eventually yield positive results.

“This is a unique period. One day we will appreciate all things we started today,” said the Head of State after a ceremony to lay the foundation of the Ivan Marchuk Museum.

Speaking about the sharply decreasing popularity rate of the government, the President said “there is no big tragedy in that.” Yushchenko is convinced that one of the reasons is insufficient information about all recent dismissals of some high officials.

“For the past eight months, the nation has been witnessing political shocks and radical conflicts among politicians. The people are not quite aware of everything that happens in the country, so they cannot form their opinion,” he said.

The Head of State thinks that these dismissals were “serious tests” for many adherents of the new government. However,he is sure that “profound things are being done in Ukraine today” and “these measures will only add the new dynamic [to life].”

“It is necessary to explain my decision to the people so that rumors, myths and legends should not mislead them. It will take more than one day to explain everything,” he added.

Yushchenko stressed that for the first time there was an “open, honest and unrestrained dispute, which is not merely political” and noted the role of the media that “are continuously trying to analyze what is going on.”
