Timoshenko is threatened by youth rebelling

While deputy’s factions in Verhovna Rada are consulting with new Cabinet about the changes in the state budget-2005, young people decided to remind Timoshenko about the pre-elections promises.

Today, before Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, representatives of 54 youth’s public organizations gathered to appeal to government with the requirement to bar from diminishing of budgetary assessments to social defence of Ukrainians youth.

About 200 students set up tents near government structure. They lined up with the placards "We demand conservation of assessments to youth policy", "We are many – we do not have houses" and distributed leaflets.

The leaflets say that new budget project creates diminishing of crediting of young families for housing acquisition, crediting of youth for getting high education, concessionary travel in transport for students.

One of the organizers of protest action Yurij Miroshnichenko, the leader of organization "New generatio" declared: "”The minister Yurij Pavlenko assured us during the meeting that youth policy would remain priority in government work. But after meeting we came to know that some articles about youth crediting had been simply deleted from budget. And if deputies vote for such changes, it will cause a real youth storm".

Andrey Pinchuk, the leader of organization "Youth is for taxes reforms" declared: "If nobody pays attention to us and comes out for meeting, at least some vice-premier, it will show that power is not going to fulfill its promises and does not want to build a civilized society. In the European countries, for example, just youth organizations, not ministries and state departments, build youth policy".

The organizers of protest action hope for meeting with Julia Timoshenko, who will listen to their opinions and dispel their doubting. Otherwise young people promise to take thoroughgoing measures like picketing and strikes.
