The head of Russia's Unified Energy System had been attacked

Officials said unidentified gunmen opened fire on Mr Chubais' car and also detonated an explosive device as he was driven to his office in Moscow.
The guard opened a return fire. However nobody suffered, as Chubais’ car had been reserved.

Member of party "Union of right forces" Boris Nemtsov considers that the today's assassination attempt on Anatoly Chubais carries political character and is unconnected with his activity on the post of chairman of Russia's Unified Energy System (UES).

According to him, Chubais was being threatened during many years. "«These threats came from his political enemies", - Nemtsov said, marking also, that "many persons declared in public about savage punishment of Chubais".
