A group of people’s deputies, representing all political forces in the parliament, namely the Party of Regions, BYuT, Our Ukraine, Communist party and Lytvyn’s bloc, has submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a draft bill on prohibition of activity of psychics, sorcerers, fortunetellers, palm-readers and of any services on fortune-telling. According to the draft bill, the activity of psychics, sorcerers, fortunetellers and palm-readers, rendering services on future telling, distribution of information and materials, as well as mass events with participation of psychics, sorcerers, fortunetellers, palm-readers will be punished by a fine of 100-150 non-taxed minimal wages.  Such professions as astrologist, fortuneteller and palm-reader will be removed from the list of State classification of professions of Ukraine, according to “Gazeta po-Kievski.” In addition, the draft bill prohibits any commercial, advertisement and propaganda of services and activities of psychics, sorcerers, fortunetellers and palm-readers by means of mass media. The explanatory note states that the draft law provides for protection of spiritual, mental, moral and physical health of the population.
