Cars of Ukrainian politicians

Far off every Ukrainian can afford a car, and far off every millionaire abroad has such a car, as Ukrainian millionaires have.

Bentley is very popular among deputies of Our Ukraine. The price for such car varies from 230 to 330 thousand euros.  David Zhvania has Bentley of old assembling, businessman Hares Yussef , close friend of Victor Yushchenko’s family, had Bentley Arnage Red Label, but he claimed he sold it two years ago.

VR deputies Oleksandr Horoshkevych and Valery Kelestyn own Bentley Continental. OU deputies of Kyiv council follow “the corporative style”. The same car model belongs to Irena Kilchitskaya, deputy Kyiv mayor.

Deputies from anti-crisis coalition camp Anton Prigodsky and businessman Andriy Ivanov are also owners of Bently.

BYuT deputy Oleksandr Feldman also does not feel shy to come in the parliament in the expensive car.

Co-owner of “UkrSibbana” and former deputy Oleksandr Yaroslavsky has Aston Martin Lagonda in his garage. Aston Martin Vanquish is registered on the name of Ukrainian-American enterprise “Finances and Credit”.

Ihor Tarasyuk, head of the department of state affairs has the same model – Aston Martin Vanquish, though he also owns Porsche 911, Bentley Continental and even Ferrari.

Transport Minister Mykola Rudkovsky showed up in Aston Martin, but he refuses his ownership of the car.

The rarest car in Kyiv streets is Rolls-Royce. Only two cars have been sold through official dealer in Ukraine. One of them, Rolls-Royce Phantom belongs to former deputy and owner of “Fellini” restaurant Ihor Voronov.

Maybach is the most expensive serial car in the world and enjoy wide popularity among Ukrainian rich men (its cost may amount to 620 ths euros). Grygory Surkis family owns three Maybachs. Kyiv mayor Leonid Chernovetsky also drives Maybach, having refused office transport.

Any wonder? Ukraine is one of the richest countries in the world. It has the best soil in the world. It has many minerals plus coal and iron. But the real question is why are most Ukrainians living in abject poverty, causing some foreign journalists and politicians to say that Ukraine is a poor country, while some Ukrainian citizens live in unconscionable luxury described in this article??? Why are some families not able to take care of their children and are forced to tell them to go out and live in the street, as if Ukraine was some kind of third world country??? Why do so many Ukrainians have to go and work abroad to be able to survive??? Why are some countries like Denmark, where the President is visiting right now, so much poorer than Ukraine in material wealth yet the majority of their people live so much better??? Why does Ukraine use so much energy yet its GDP is so low??? No, the answer is not blowing in the wind.

The answer is that the UKRAINIAN people are still not masters in their own country!!!

Bohdan, you're on target, the Ukrainian people are not masters in their own country, at present. If they were, then the members of the Rada would be equal under the law, no immunity, ect. The amount these guys spend on these type cars is shameful and a disgrace to their leadership.

I wouldnt want to take example from Denmark, however I agree, Ukraine needs a generation of young people, or any large enough group, who is sick and tired of this nonsense and turn to Locke's civil society and political system.

many visitors to Ukraine are quick to comment on the number of very expensive cars that roam the streets. Over the last six years that I have been visiting Ukraine I have noticed a tenfold increase in the number of cars on the road and like others notice the affordabity of many of the cars. Analysis of Ukraine's motor registration per region with independent review of the costs of each car over the last 5 to 10 years would provide an interesting and reasonably accurate assessment of Ukraine's economic development. Even the hike in the cost of petrol has not made a serious dent in the number of expensive cars on the road. If only the infrastructure kept pace with the growth in car ownership.

With high import duties on foreign made cars the cost of owning a foreign luxury car is considerable greater then their costs in the west. Ukraine is not a poor country. It is just the distribution of that wealth that is unevenly dispersed with big business avoiding payment of tax and reaping the benefits of a low wage low cost economy. The imposition of a property valuation tax to pay for civil infrastructure improvements is a must for Ukraine. I think this article is one of the most interesting and worthwhile articles published by the editors and publishers. Maybe they can obtain a copy of the motor registration statistics by model, region and claimed costs per year. This information should be readily available and I am sure would prove very interesting reading.

Cars are now a basic necessity in almost Every Europewna and American country, and its use increasing everywhere! Why should Ukraine be behind? It is one of the richest countries in Europe, potentially!

I think that Ukraine government needs to increase tax on patrol and start investing more in efficient public transportation. As for diesel leave it alone since most farmers use it and its more efficient. Because in the long run Ukraine will became like USA, too dependent on foreign oil. Looking at the other point of view, may be driving those cars they might think about improving the roads in Ukraine, since most of them might hate trashing their cars in few weeks becuase of bad roads :)
